Vintage Motorcycle Insurance Sources & Info

This is considered a specialist motorcycle insurance, not in the mainstream - but - read on...

The first thing to say here, is that largely due the Japanese ability to build motorcycles that last - there are millions of bikes out there that are 20 or 30 years old, and still are in great shape - in fact they could handle an interstate vacation tour. These are now considered in the Vintage Motorcycle Insurance category by many companies who specialize in this sector. The premium savings are amazing; the only slight problem is that as they don't expect these precious bikes to be doing many miles a year, there are usually fairly low mileage limits.

This makes a Lot of Sense!
As most of us only do a few thousand miles a year - and there are some amazing bikes which have been superceded in the last 20 years. Think of XS750/850/1100 Yamaha's, the original CB750 & CBX Hondas, what about the Water Buffalo GT750 Suzuki and of course the original king - the Kawasaki Z1 900. All these bikes are now genuinely collectable.

In our consumer economy, we all want the newest, fastest model. This is much more money to buy, maintain and insure - and with a 55mph speed limit - what's the point?

If you're the type of rider who has an older bike, then you can make great savings on insurance bills.
1: first a 15 year old Honda will be rated much more kindly than an equivalent new one.
2: second, unless you have a particular reason - there is no need for collision coverage - as if you dent it in a spill - it's another 'character' mark you can talk about, or you can get used parts for a fraction of their new price.

So to summarise:
1: If you already have an old or vintage bike (or bikes) there are specialist sources which reflect the much lower risk of this kind of riding.
2: Even if you are not a vintage fan, there are bikes that are falling into that category which are fun and worthy and Much Cheaper to cover.
