Claims are the 'payoff’ side of your motorcycle insurance policy. But most of us don’t look forward to this!
Your insurance premium has been contributing to a fund that will hopefully make the financial consequences of your accident go away.
Of course this is only true if the information you provided and coverage selected is correct & adequate.
As a really simple explanation, let’s divide motorcycle insurance claims into three sections:
Damage you might do to someone you collide with – this can be their motorcycle or other vehicle; or house etc. Also this includes personal injury that may occur to others. This is liability. You need to know how your company will treat these matters in a motorcycle, insurance, claim.Read more about Liability coverage
Although most real motorcyclists worry about their bike first after a wreck ;-) , there’s a good chance you could injure yourself or a passenger. The nature of motorcycles is that if we pick a fight with the landscape, car or truck – we are likely to come of worse! It’s vital you have the right medical insurance for your needs. Here’s some things to think about.Read more about Medical coverage
If you have insurance that covers repairs on your own bike (Collision) – this also falls into this category – but what will they cover? Find out more about motorcycle insurance claims and Collision.Read more about Collision coverage
Wrecks - Crashes & Wipeouts - consider the rider first!…...........Yes, I'm talking to YOU! ......preferrably before you crash!
We’re all most concerned about our bike in a wreck, but in this claims section of the site I make no apologies for reminding you that Insurance coverage for not being able to work (or even breathe!) - it not only makes sense – but is reasonable.
Note:This site is aimed as a general ‘heads-up’ to those who have never thought much about the details of insurance before. If this was a full insurance tutorial – it would be hundreds of pages long, and you would end up with a license….But You Wouldn’t Read it Would You! Also, interpretation of terminology and features will vary from company to company. So be sure to discuss or confirm any matters that arise from reading information on this site with your qualified insurance adviser and consider on the basis of your individual needs.
